Dec 23rd Christmas Dinner Meeting

Just last night, we had a Christmas Dinner Meeting.
We had a total of 50 participants at 747 Restaurant.
The meeting was perfect. Suited the Christmas Spirit Perfectly.

We had a first timer TOE - Shu Zian, who introduced the speakers with wonderful introduction and of course creating a festive atmosphere for Christmas.
The most interesting part was the induction of new members, by Santa Clause! It was amazing to have Santa induct new members, it would be an unforgettable induction for them.

Jimmy had interesting table topics. And this time, its really "Table" topics because the wholetable had to work together. Forming words out of CHRISTMAS, changing the lyrics of Jingle Bell, a drama to entertain us, presenting what is Toastmasters & a debate between two tables regarding wine drinking on celebrations.

What's a Toastmasters' meeting without speeches? We had 6 last night,
- We learnt what is Christmas, a speech by Colin Lamb who explained what is Christmas to us.
- We got to know of Teik Poh's 3 loves.
- We were inspired by Clement who was doing his 10th Assignment.
- We witnessed the Award presentation to Clement by Tik Liang.
- We enjoyed a toast by E-Jiat who toasted to Christmas, to a brand new year.
- We learnt the best of Achievers after Ken Choo spoke in praise of Achievers.

Toastmasters do not only allow the members to speak in public, they allow them to perform as well. A collaboration between the two members - E-Jiat & Poh Chen, playing Christmas Songs to entertain everyone on that night.

But it was not over, Christmas must always come with caroling, Cheshire Home had a team who sang Christmas Carol for everyone of us, & of course, Santa Clause climbed down the chimney to give them presents.

The Dinner ended at 11, with Ricky, the YMCA President giving his speech. It was indeed a wonderful dinner

Merry Christmas, & a Happy New Year!!
See you in 2011!

9 Dec 2010 Meeting

The meeting on the 9th was a very nice one.
We had Deepa as our table topic master. She gave us a variety of topics. From quotes to current affairs. Every speaker were able to perform it well, even the guests.

Below is David entertaining people with his humour.
Of course, not forgetting our assignment speakers for the night. We had
1. Tan Teik Ee CC#2
2. Ken Tan CC#2
3. Tan Poh Chen CC#2
4. Terry Deng CC #4
5. Kishin ACB #1
6. E-Jiat ACB #1

And all the assignment speakers did well, look at the photo below. The members are listening attentively.

Overall, it was a good meeting. It ended with Tik Liang giving his general evaluation.

TLI 2

DG's December Message - "1+1" THE HUMBLE & SIMPLE WAY!

Fellow Toastmasters,

Hello...how is life as a Toastmaster coming along ? Are you not having enough thrill and fun in your journey towards becoming a GREAT Individual ?

At times, we are shrouded by various challenges that require greater endurance from us to survive through and meet our personal expectations. I guess that is how we learn to stretch ourselves towards the optimum ability. I could personally sense those moments which recurs very often than not at my work as well as in Toastmasters.

Recently, when I was at the first ever TLI 2 for the current term in Div B, we received the surprise audience of our very own 1st VP DTM Dr John Lau. During the short moment he had with us, he took us on the historic journey of D51 which created a legacy as the No 1 District in the WORLD for 5 years in running. He threw a friendly challenge to the district if we could bring the GLORY back as the No 1 District. Well, he gave us the prescription as well which is "1+1" = infinity. Though it could just be a simple arithmetic, but the hidden message is for ALL OF US to RECRUIT at LEAST 1 new member while every CLUB in the District gives birth to another NEW CLUB. Though I was stunned for a moment, but figuring out patiently, this is certainly POSSIBLE and ACHIEVABLE . We should all do it for the sole purpose of bringing this Toastmasters Benefits to the reach of another INDIVIDUAL and if its a community, then leading to the birth of a CLUB.

As simple as that....1+1...We can strive to inject our humbleness in the most simplistic manner to reach out to others bearing in mind you are helping him/her to transform into a magical individual potentially to be equipped with the improved communication skills, leadership qualities, presentation style, unimaginable confidence level and etc...benefits are multi-fold and can be evidenced from your self-testimony!

This ONE YEAR term of ours allows us to create meaningful history in others' lives...just by us adhering to the "1+1". I am very inspired and charged up to walk that extra mile in fulfilling the formulae solely in the interest of bringing the 'GREAT' LIGHT to someone else' life. If I CAN DO IT, I'm sure each and everyone of you COULD DO IT!

Let us make the resolution to take this stride forward in bringing greater meaning of self-development to another soul's doorstep!

"1+1" in the most HUMBLE & SIMPLE way forward towards ACHIEVING GREATNESS TOGETHER!

Counting on EACH OTHER....TO MAKE THIS POSSIBLE!

RECRUIT AT LEAST AN INDIVIDUAL & EACH CLUB TO HELP CHARTER AT LEAST ANOTHER CLUB!

Countdown starts...

Thanking you in ANTICIPATION!
